Melbourne Arena

Melbourne Arena

Due to the growing demand for concert halls and sporting stadiums in Melbourne, a number of new venues have been created close to the Melbourne CBD. Back in 2000, Melbourne Arena was constructed to fulfil the growing need of multi-purpose sporting and concert venues around the city (previously known as Melbourne Arena).

This flexible venue offers a huge crowd capacity similar to many of the other stadiums located in Melbourne.

Melbourne Arena is perfect for sporting events; like the Australian Open, NBL basketball and netball. Melbourne Arena has also been used in the past for wrestling, as well as cycling. Visitors will find a state-of-the-art style retractable roof, corporate suites, dynamic seating and a large arena with multiple function rooms. It’s no wonder that Melbourne Arena is one of the most popular sporting venues in Melbourne.

Furthermore, Melbourne Arena is also home to many world-class live entertainment events and shows. In addition to several music concerts, the venue also hosts an array of family-orientated live shows, comedy performances, dance festivals and city-wide community festivals. The 2006 Commonwealth Games was also jointly hosted by the venue – holding most of the cycling, netball and basketball events.

Theiss Constructions designed and built this multi-purpose arena at a cost of approximately $65 million. Due to its modern amenities and dynamic facilities, the arena’s function rooms can also be hired for private gatherings, parties and corporate functions.

Seating plans will vary based on the type and size of each event, but here is an example of a past event held at Melbourne Arena.
